Origins is a Public Art Commission for the city of Lexington, Kentucky’s Oliver Lewis Way Bridge, a major thoroughfare and important link to the new Distillery District and the University of Kentucky. This expansive bridge reaches 215’ long by 105’ wide and 38’ high. The six sculptures adorn the bridge’s edges rising nearly 4 stories into the sky. The sculpture’s iridescent and brilliant colors radiate when the passing sun shines on them. In the evening, they glow with RGB/LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes), circulating through the spectrum in a brilliant fashion. This installation acts as a beacon of hope at this busy crossing, welcoming the viewer to this newly revitalized area while speaking to Lexington’s rich cultural past.
