Planting the Seeds was commissioned by the City of Merriam, Kansas for the Merriam Marketplace. This large-scale community park offers local citizens and tourists a vibrant place to enjoy outdoors with their 10,000 square foot farmer’s market pavilion and multiple trailheads. The Planting Seeds sculptures include three, mirror finish, upward-rising sculptures that jet out of grassy mounds. Abstract interpretations of germinating seed spores, Planting the Seeds reflects the historic, fresh-food market and provides a creative moment of play and reflective pause for visitors. The market and sculptures enjoy the company of thousands of spectators who visit the market each week.
